Infection Control

Description

An infection, very simply, is when the body is invaded by a foreign pathogen that is likely to cause harm to the body. Once in the body, pathogens multiply and spread. The body reacts to this as well as toxins produced by the pathogen. Infection control and prevention are steps and processes put in place to halt the spread of infections and diseases. Specific methods of control and prevention will be examined in the course.

This course is for all employees as infection control is something we should all be aware of.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Identify types of infection
• Know where infections can come from and how they are transmitted
• Control and prevent infection by breaking the ‘chain of infection’.

You must pass the assessment at the end of the course to receive your certificate.
