Meet The Team

John Heath

Managing Director

I am John, Managing Director of Risk Safety Services Ltd. I am a Health, Safety, and Fire professional with over 20 years’ experience in Health, Safety, and Fire in the UK.

I am a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner of IOSH (CMIOSH), a fellow member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM) Associate member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (AIFireE).

I am also on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR), which is a public register of UK-based occupational health and safety advice consultants, set up to assist UK employers and business owners with general advice on workplace health and safety issues.

I provide practical and sensible health and safety support to business owners across a wide range of industries to meet their legal responsibilities and ensure the health and safety of their workforce.

This includes: preventing accidents, employee liability claims and prosecutions — saving my clients time and money.

The best part of my job is continuing with personal development and making a significant contribution to promoting good health, safety, and fire practices by driving the company forward and working with clients to provide an expanded range of health and safety services.

Dean Cook

Health & Safety Consultant

I have been in Health and Safety for over 30 years and began my working life on the tools as an apprentice, making my way up to becoming a Health and Safety consultant.

Some may say, hopefully in a light-hearted way, I am the Poacher turned Gamekeeper. I am methodical yet pragmatic and enjoy the variety of challenges and people I meet and knowing I am making a difference, especially being part of a company’s success.

I genuinely enjoy the fact that I am able to ensure that everyone leaves work and goes home safely in the same condition that they came to work.

I also enjoy the challenges that come with changing the safety culture within all the varied industries to being proactive and helping resolve issues during projects.

I use the mantra – “think what if, not if only.”

Stephen J Fowler

Health & Safety Consultant

I started working in the construction industry at the beginning of my working career where I worked in many different roles before gravitating towards a role in health and safety.

I have worked as a Health and Safety practitioner for nearly twenty years, on some high profile / high hazard projects. Some of these have been heavy Civil engineering projects such as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in both Ashford (Contract 430) and Stratford box (Contract 230). I also worked on national rail infrastructure on the Fixed Telecoms Network replacing utilities for Network Rail and also different projects on the Isle of Grain such as the LNG storage terminal (Mechanical engineering) and also the Isle of Grain power station for refurbishment.

I worked on the M25 widening project and Area 4 motorway maintenance (in Kent & Sussex) gaining experience of working in a live highway motorway environment before working in the busiest roll on roll off port worldwide, the Port of Dover, which broadened my experience of marine activities and different duty holder roles before becoming head of safety UK for Eurotunnel, developing procedures for Brexit with multiple projects delivered to help maintain business fluidity and the covid-19 pandemic.

Now working as a consultant I enjoy the variety in supporting different industries, having recently assisted different businesses to achieve compliance in various sectors, such as; schools, universities, manufacturing, construction, housing, breweries to name just a few.

Simon Oakley

Fire Risk Assessor

I was in the Fire Service for 30 years, which 17 years were spent dealing with Fire Safety Matters, I retired in 2010 to carryout fire risk assessments, training, Fire safety policies and Fire door inspections.

I have extensive knowledge in sports ground safety having had responsibility for all sports grounds in Kent and having worked with the local councils, Sports Ground Safety Authority.

My time spent in the Fire Service gave me both the training and experience to enable me to provide concise and detailed fire risk assessments for clients. Being a member of the IFE ensures that I keep myself up to date with the continuing changes in all fire safety matters, so I am able provide the best service to clients.

I am a DipFD, EngTech GIFireE, and registered as Fire Risk Assessor (Life Safety Stream) with the Institution of Fire Engineers.

Abby Heath

Office Manager

As the Office Manager, I find my work satisfying for many reasons, from the variety of the tasks I carry out, to the satisfaction that comes from supporting my colleagues

It is my role to ensure our clients receive the support they need regarding their health and safety.

Within my time of being employed here at Risk Safety Services Ltd, I have obtained my IOSH Managing Safely qualification.

I really enjoy being in such an important, supportive role that allows me to interact with a variety of people and businesses. I also think that there is always a way to learn within this industry; which helps me feel like I am constantly developing my skill set.
