Hazards:
- Poorly maintained or uninsured equipment.
- Slips, trips, & falls from –
- Slippery wet plastic
- Anchorage points
- Power leads and associated equipment.
- Persons jumping or falling off the front of the bouncy castle / inflatable.
- Using a petrol/diesel generator along with its associated fire hazards (the inflatable is electrically powered as standard).
- If other appliances are run from the generator there could be a reduction in power to the inflatable which could cause it to rapidly deflate.
- Lit cigarettes or barbeque embers coming into contact with the equipment causing a fire or melting the airtight plastic casing rapid deflation.
- Weight overloading resulting in air tight joining seams splitting or sharp objects puncturing the inflated equipment leading to rapid deflation and structural collapse.
- Unauthorised access while equipment is inflating / deflating or is no longer being supervised (i.e. end of event)
- Manual Handling.
- Weighty, bulky and unwieldy load.
- Difficulties in getting a grip of the load.
- Individuals with pre-existing conditions.
- Physical Injury – difficult posture.
- Muscular skeletal disorders
- Sprains / strains.
- High wind leading to anchor points becoming loose or detached causing the equipment to move or tip over.
- Heavy duty stakes to be driven in using mallet.
- Larger users colliding with smaller users.
- Users colliding with each other whilst on the inflatable.
- Danger of unnecessary injury or illness.
- Contact with bodily fluids (e.g. vomit / diarrhoea etc.)
- Possibly also resulting in slips and falls from equipment.
